DIY Play Dough
I don't know about your kids but Bella loves play dough. However, she also loves leaving it open so overnight, it usually dries up. Not to mention earlier on, she liked to tease us by putting it in her mouth (not very funny to us!). This is why I decided to try DIY Play Dough and found this great recipe on Emma Owl.
Ingredients:
Makes about 4 tennis ball size play dough.
-
2 cups flour
-
1 cup of salt
-
2 cups of water
-
1Â Tablespoon vegetable oil
-
4 teaspoons cream of tartar
-
food coloring
Instructions:
Â
Mix all the ingredients together in a big pot and then put it onto the stove – medium heat. At first, the mixture is quite runny, but after a few minutes on the stove, it forms a dough. Keep string continuously, make sure to stir the bottom of the pot so it does not burn. In about 3 minutes your mixture will be like dough.
Â
Take it out, allow it to cool and knead like bread a few times. Divide the dough into as many colors as you want and add food coloring. TIP: Food coloring goes a long way, so start with a very small amount. (Also from personal experience, I highly recommend wearing gloves for this part!).
Â
Store in ziplock bags and enjoy for months to come!
